Lake Superior Provincial Park was the next stop in my #EpicTrip2022<\/a> and they have a few campgrounds in the area to choose from. For a quick, one night stay I chose Rabbit Blanket Lake Campground<\/a>. After hauling myself back out of Grundy Lake Provincial Park I drove a good seven hours more. So, it was another long travel day and since I just stayed one night I didn’t do much or take many pictures (just the one above actually AND it’s out of focus LOL). I did have a pleasant stay though.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

When arrived, the first thing I did was take out my bike and explore the campground. If I had more time I would have liked to hike the Peat Mountain Trail. I did actually hike a portion of it, less than 1 kilometer, that runs along the side of the campground. It was pretty overgrown in some places and by the time I got to the main section, heading up the mountain, it was already getting close to sun down. So, I decided not to continue. I also would have loved to throw the canoe into Rabbit Blanket Lake for a quick paddle in the morning but by the time I packed up I just didn’t want to spend the extra time and energy. Besides, I had a very challenging hiking trip planned at Pukaskwa National Park where I was heading next.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

A fellow camper who was walking by noticed my canoe and we chatted for a while. He told me how he’s travelled cross country a few times, just like I’m doing. He told me a little about his adventures and how the nights can get pretty cold around Lake Superior because of all the cold air coming off the water. A phenomenon I was aware of but did not think about while planning my trip. I was happy to have the advice and took it into consideration when I was preparing for my hiking trip the next day. I never got his name but it was a nice encounter.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
